A Good Cause

One of my best friends has a little boy that suffers from psoriasis and every year, as members of the National Psoriasis Foundation, they participate in a walk for the cure. This year I am going to walk also which means I need to help raise money for my team--Team Jacob. Here is a copy of the letter I received from my friend about this cause:

A message from Eliza Clement ,
Dear family and friends,I am asking for your help with a cause that means a lot to me: improving the lives of people with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. In my efforts to make a difference, I am participating in the Dallas Walk to Cure Psoriasis. I believe most people would be surprised and saddened by the impact of the disease and the lack of awareness about how difficult it is to live with. Psoriasis is more than a simple skin rash. It often can encompass major areas of the body and can even become debilitating. As many as 30 percent of people who have psoriasis will also develop psoriatic arthritis, which is a very painful and potentially crippling form of arthritis. In addition to the skin condition, they have to deal with intense joint pain, swelling and other symptoms that limit their ability to carry out the routines of daily life.More than 7.5 million Americans have psoriasis, yet very little is being invested in public education or research for a cure. I am asking for your help. Through the Walk to Cure Psoriasis, we will bring in money to help find a cure and create public awareness about the disease. You can read more about Jacob's personal struggles with psoriasis and donate to this special cause by clicking onto the link below.Thank you all,Eliza and Jacob Clement

With permission from Liza, I am able to share some pictures of Jake and what this disease has done to him:

I feel strongly about participating not only because Liza is one of my dearest friends but because I care for Jake and I am impressed by the positive attitude he has about his disease and his desire to overcome it. Last year I was unable to walk so I just sent in a donation. If you feel inclined to do the same, please click the link above and donate to Team Jacob. It's tax deductible and you can donate any amount. Thanks!
