I took a quilting class a few years ago and actually enjoyed it so I came out overly confident and thought I would start tackling some projects of my own. I found a gal that designs some cute, modern quilt patterns and fell in love with this quilt. Fast forward 2 years and I have finally completed it! It was supposed to be a birthday gift for Avery in 2009 but I am nothing if not lazy so it didn't happen. Christmas and another birthday came and went and it still wasn't done. I finished it just before this past Christmas and by that time Avery had seen me working on it so much, it wasn't much of a surprise so I just gave it to her after I secured the last stitch. She was very excited and now Drew is wondering where his quilt is (it's next on my list). My mom helped me with this one which is why it turned out so nice. She suggested I use the scraps to make a matching doll quilt and I loved the idea and thought it would be good practice for me. I did that one all by myself which is why it looks likes a high schooler's home-ec project. I learned a lot of new things and enjoyed the time making this quilt. I've got 3 more lined up and waiting to get started so we'll see if I can finish in just a shade under a decade this time.
