A new swingset

With the recent installment of our backyard, it was time to finally get Drew a swingset. He was so excited when Brent brought it home and he was happy to help put it together.
It only took Brent a few days to get the whole thing put together and the kids love it. When we pull into the driveway, you can see the top of the tent over the fence and Drew always says, "I want to go play!" And of course, wherever Drew is, Avery wants to be also. She's getting around very well these days so she will try to climb the ladder to the top of the slide but her favorite thing is to climb the slide from the bottom up. Drew will sit at the top and yell for me to "Move the baby!" so he can slide down without hitting her. I appreciate his consideration for not plowing down the slide and knocking her over like a bowling pin. Although she would probably think that was pretty fun. Avery is actually a fearless little girl. She has no concept of boundaries or limits. She will climb up, on, and over anything. She will climb to the edge of something and swing her leg over without hesitation as if the 3 foot drop off the bed is just a step for her.
She can stand by herself now and is quite proud of that accomplishment (as are we!). I know she will be walking any day now and then I will really have to step my game up. She does things I didn't have to worry about with Drew. I didn't have to babyproof nearly as many things with Drew. He never got into drawers or cabinets, he never ate things off the floor, and he certainly never found joy in splashing in other people's pee. Avery does all of the above and then some. She is quite a character. She is so busy and into everything.

Brent and I have so much fun with the kids and they make us laugh everyday. There is never a dull moment and I love the joy they bring to our lives each day.

*Side Note

I realize I devoted a whole post to motherhood in honor of Mother's Day and that I did not give father's the same respect. In my defense, I have no idea what it's like to be a father but I love my baby daddy and I appreciate all he does for me and the kids. To us, he hangs the moon and we're glad he continues to come home to us day after day. We love you.

Wow, you have the funnest backyard ever. My kids would be so jealous. How nice for you to have a place to send your kids to go play! Isn't it weird how girls can be more destructive than boys? I swear Sophie is the master of destruction in our house. I've never seen it so messy as when Sophie is done playing. (I liked your side note as well...I think your post with the link to Brent's TV spot was a pretty good Father's Day post ;)
